Whether they warn of post-apocalyptic ruin or imagine paths toward renewal, Eco-Blockbusters present environmental crisis as both spectacle and consequence. These films expose the costs of human hubris and exploitation, spark dialogue around current environmental issues, and warn that the futures on screen are not as distant as they seem.
Sectioned by major franchises including Jurassic Park, Godzilla and King Kong, Alien, and The Hunger Games, MOPOP’s sixth edition of the Guest Curator Exhibition by Grace Marie Gousman explores iconic artifacts such as Katniss Everdeen’s Mockingjay combat bow (Mockingjay Part 1, 2014), Ridley Scott’s hand-annotated script for Alien (1979), and more.

Grace Marie Gousman is a graduate from the University of Arizona with a BA in History and a MA in Museology at the University of Washington. She has worked at a variety of institutions, including the Burke Museum, and currently works as a Museum Curator with the Arizona State Historical Society.
