Perform. Explore. Express. Transform. MOPOP offers a space for creative youths to have fun while feeding their passions and learning skills that’ll serve them far beyond this summer. From drag performance to songwriting to engineering a fantasy world—find it all at MOPOP Camps.
Registration for camp is now closed. Our Midwinter Camps will be announced in early November and Summer Camps will be announced in early spring.
Rain City Rock Camp’s Advanced Music Program (AMP) is a week-long intensive workshop produced in collaboration with MOPOP for youth of marginalized genders ages 14 to 19 with prior music experience. AMP’s youth-centered, empowerment-oriented approach to musical development incorporates mentor-guided song writing, band participation and experiential learning.
Campers participate in empowerment workshops, off-site trips to studios and venues, and more! At the end of the week, participants get to record their original song with their band with a professional engineer and perform for a crowd of adoring fans.
Campfire songs are so 2023—this year, become a rock star! In partnership with Seattle Children’s Theatre, learn the ins and outs of producing a music video through instruction from teaching artists. Explore songwriting techniques, acting for the camera, and more, all culminating in your very own parody music video filmed on location at Seattle Center. Just remember us in your Grammy acceptance speech.
A scientist is about as close to a wizard as you can get in today’s world, and we’ll prove it! Imagine, experiment, alchemize, and collaborate with your fellow explorers and harness the power of STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and math) to create something new each day. Let your imagination run wild and gain new skills, all while having fun. This is science so cool, it feels like magic.
Calling all current and future royalty—your invitation to slay is here. Explore self-expression in this camp led by Seattle performer Joshua Hancock and featuring performers Kara Sutra, King Leo Mane, and Mia Moore, where you’ll immerse yourself in drag history, learn hair and makeup techniques, and create your persona with their own name and stage presence. Then, it’ll be time to own the stage in a private showcase to celebrate your new drag identity!
Camp in more ways than one, Drag Camp 2.0: The Art of Performance is your chance to deeply develop your drag identity. Under the expert guidance of featured artists D’Mon and Viper Fengz, you’ll dive into skills like custom costume design, stage routine, story arc, dialogue, and dance and movement, all while building on the fundamentals of stage hair, nails, and makeup. Once you’ve reached full fabulosity, slay the house down boots in a private showcase to celebrate your drag persona.
NW Film Camp's week-long day camps are designed to spark creativity and collaboration in aspiring filmmakers. Filmmaking Camps for ages 12-17 offer a deeper exploration of the craft, guiding participants through the entire filmmaking process from script development to final editing. Students create short films they will be proud to share with their communities! At NW Film Camp, we prioritize a fun and inclusive environment, fostering teamwork and encouraging the unique visions of each young filmmaker.
