LGBTQIA+ Collection
Like anyone who has found solace or inspiration in pop culture, members of the LGBTQIA+ community, fans and artists alike, have long created community and identity through music, performance, and fandom.
The objects in this collection highlight LGBTQIA+ friendly spaces, such as community centers and performance venues, and creatives, from drag queens to punk rockers to riot grrrl zinesters, in the Northwest and beyond. These objects help illustrate a history of LGBTQIA+ community, arts, and activism which have informed both popular and lesser-known artistic and social movements and have always been an integral part of our culture.
This collection is not comprehensive but is designed to highlight various objects related to the LGBTQIA+ community in MoPOP’s permanent collection. We are excited to continue adding to it as we digitize our collections, and we invite you to check out these posters, records, photos, and more.
