At 5,384 square feet, Sky Church is a hub of activity at MoPOP, and a central location to access the Museum’s wide variety of gallery spaces. Named after Jimi Hendrix’s ensemble that played Woodstock Festival in 1969, Sky Church offers an awe-inspiring 33’ x 60’ HD LED screen, accompanied by state-of-the-art acoustics and a wide variety of lighting effects. The soaring 65-foot high ceiling is illuminated with parasols gently floating overhead, enhancing the ambiance of the space.
With its impressive ceilings and awe-inspiring views of the Frank O. Gehry architecture, our East Lobby is the ideal place to kick off your MoPOP experience. Guests can easily access the Central Galleries via the grand staircase to continue exploring all the Museum has to offer. Adjacent to the East Lobby is CULTURE KITCHEN by Wolfgang Puck, which serves as a seating area for your guests.
Learning Labs is a flexible space with a moveable air wall, allowing it to be subdivided into two distinct rooms. Near our Science Fiction and Fantasy Hall of Fame and the JBL Theater, this space can accommodate up to 60 seated guests, as well as a variety of setups.
The Outdoor Plaza is located at the exterior of the west side of the building. Best used during the late spring through early fall months, the expansive plaza can be setup like a casual patio happy hour or a formal tented experience. With stunning views of the Space Needle and Monorail, the Plaza can be a perfect addition to your group’s experience in Sky Church or the East Lobby. It can also shine as a stand-alone option for guests to enjoy a beautiful summer evening before going inside the Museum to explore the galleries. A variety of customizable tenting options are available.
As a fully custom catering service, Wolfgang Puck can design the perfect food and beverage compliment for any visit to the museum. Menu designs range from simple and delicious boxed lunches to innovative noshes as unique as the museum itself.
