The Princess Bride

Since its release in 1987, The Princess Bride remains one of the most popular comedic fantasies of all time when it charmed audiences with its witty banter, heartfelt romance, and fantastical setting.  

The film is based on William Goldman's 1973 novel of the same name, which presents a unique structure, promising to show only the “good parts” of a supposedly longer work. The Princess Bride was directed by Rob Reiner and stars Cary Elwes as Westley and Robin Wright as Princess Buttercup.  The Princess Bride is on several top film lists including “Bravo's 100 Funniest Movies” and the American Film Institute’s “100 Greatest Love Stories of All Time.”
