Let’s play ball! Join us on April 27 for a screening of The Diamond King, a feature-length documentary showcasing baseball’s vibrant history through the life and works of its very own Picasso, Dick Perez. As the official artist of the Baseball Hall of Fame for over 20 years, Perez has reimagined the game, creating works that span from the Knickerbocker era to the present—highlighting iconic baseball portraits, stadiums, uniforms, and more. After the film, celebrate the artistry of baseball with a panel discussion featuring the film’s team, moderated by Beth Barrett, Artistic Director of SIFF. The conversation will feature 'The Diamond King' Dick Perez, Marq Evans, John Ortiz, Jason Roark, and Michelle Quisenberry, followed by a reception with fellow sports fans.
The starting lineup includes:
12:30 PM | Doors open to Sound + Vision Theater
1:00 PM | Introduction by MOPOP CEO Michele Y. Smith
1:10 PM | Film screening begins
2:40 PM | Panel discussion
