MOPOP Residency

Places, everyone!

The curtain is rising on another season of MOPOP Residency: our free series of workshops where young storytellers step into the spotlight to explore a rotating lineup of music, film, fashion, and gaming. Launching quarterly in MOPOP’s Community Learning Lab, the Residency invites students to drop in for a day or commit to the full run, generously supported by Allen Family Philanthropies.

This fall, MOPOP is working with Seattle Children's Theatre, giving aspiring performers the chance to build confidence, stretch their creativity, and discover what happens when imagination takes center stage. From improv and storytelling to writing and genre-bending, students will learn alongside industry professionals in a welcoming, collaborative environment.

Kid Creators (Ages 7-11)

Tuesdays | 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM | October 6 – December 15

No programs October 20 or November 24

Places for Act 1! Learn acting and improv fundamentals in this nine-week session. Young creators will explore the art of ensemble-building, physical comedy, voice, and storytelling alongside professionals from Seattle Children’s Theatre.

Students will prepare a final showcase on December 15 to share what they've created. Parents are welcome to attend and participate in any MOPOP Residency program!

Teen Genre-Swap (Ages 12-17)

Thursdays | 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM | October 8 – December 17

‍No programs October 22 or November 26

What if Shakespeare wrote Star Wars? Or Toy Story was a horror film? Explore the world of genre-bending in this nine-week session as students experiment with genre fundamentals, improv, and creative writing techniques to transform familiar stories into entirely new interpretations.

Join us for a special wrap party and showcase on December 17 to celebrate everything they’ve created.  Parents are welcome to attend and participate in any MOPOP Residency program!
