X-Files

SEPTEMBER 10, 1993 – MAY 19, 2002
Combining sophisticated science fiction, horror, mystery, and UFO folklore, The X-Files depicted a world where the fantastic and bizarre lurk just out of sight.
Created by Chris Carter, The X-Files follows two FBI agents, Fox Mulder and Dana Scully, who investigate cases involving unusual, otherworldly, and paranormal phenomena. David Duchovny plays Fox Mulder, a believer, while Gillian Anderson is Dana Scully, a skeptic. The series debuted in 1993 and ran for nine seasons. A six-episode tenth season came in 2016, starring much of the original cast.
The X-Files has been adapted and expanded many times including two motion pictures, various comic book series, novels, games, and a spin-off television series: The Lone Gunmen (2001). The first film, The X-Files: Fight the Future, was released in 1998 between television seasons five and six. The sequel, The X-Files: I Want to Believe, followed in 2008. Both the show and its stars have won several awards including a Golden Globe in 1994 for Best Drama.
