Teacher or Educator

Make MoPOP part of your school year! Take advantage of our variety of group resources to make the most of your students' encounters with pop culture.

MoPOP celebrates pop culture’s ability to foster critical thinking, creativity, and innovation. We use our interactive exhibitions and hands-on activities to help your students make connections between popular music, storytelling, writing, movies, comics, and your classroom curriculum.

Eligible education groups may qualify for a discounted museum admission of $6.00 per person for K-12 groups or $10 per person for college/university groups. To qualify, reservations must be made by a teacher (K-12, homeschool, college/university, etc.), school administrator, or designated parent representative.

All education visits include an orientation and self-guided gallery access for the day.  Enhance your visit by downloading our gallery guides or adding an in-museum workshop!

Please note: Online Educational Group reservations are available seven days a week. School visits must be scheduled at least two weeks in advance.

The following offerings for students K–12 will help students and teachers to extend their learning experience above and beyond the classroom walls.

Self-Guided Tours

Explore MoPOP galleries with students and chaperones at your own pace. Check out our Gallery Guides for help developing a learning-focused visit.

In-Museum Workshop

Add an in-museum workshop for your class of up to 30 students. Align language arts, social studies, science, music, and visual arts learning objectives through engaging hands-on, student-centered workshops. These 45-60 minute classes are designed to complement self-guided tours. All workshops include a follow-up gallery connection and suggested activities for the classroom to enhance the museum experience. Please note: these workshops cannot be booked online.

In-Museum Workshops

  • Available Monday through Friday during the school year.
  • To book an in-museum workshop, email Jessica Lane, Education Specialist, at JessicaL@MoPOP.org or call 206-262-3438.

Workshops in Schools

One of our dynamic professional teaching artists will tailor two workshops to be led in your classroom. For the third artist-led workshop, students will venture out of the traditional classroom for a field study onsite at MoPOP. These three one-hour workshops are designed to complement a self-guided tour or Field Study at the museum, and include museum admission. Please note: these workshops cannot be booked online.

Workshops in Your School

The STAR program supports youth music ensembles by equipping students with the artistic skills necessary to perform in a professional capacity. STAR is open to ensembles of all musical genres based in schools or throughout the wider community. Students receive two hours of dedicated coaching from professional artists experienced in working with youth, and get valuable public performance opportunities onstage in MoPOP’s Sky Church. Please note: STAR program bookings cannot be made online.
