Youth Writers Workshop

For serious young writers interested in science fiction and fantasy.

Sunday, December 10, 2017

This event is for 3rd–12th grade youth.

MoPOP is excited to partner with The Fairwood Writers group and Norwescon to kick off the call for submissions for our 2018 Write Out of This World Contest by offering a special event to help students

Do you want to write a story for the Write Out of This World contest? Professional science fiction and fantasy writer coaches will help you develop ideas for a strange world, an adventurous hero or heroine to explore it, and the problems this character has to overcome. Drawing inspiration from a tour of Infinite Worlds of Science Fiction, you will brainstorm, try out ideas, and get fueled and ready to launch a terrific story for the contest. Plan to dream big and learn about the elements of science fiction and fantasy storytelling in this workshop for serious young writers.

Parents/guardians may purchase additional tickets to tour the museum at our reduced education rate of $6 per person or may relax in the museum’s café for the duration of the workshop free of charge.

Cost: $6 per youth attending, includes museum admission for the day
