Channel your kid’s interests into a fun and educational summer experience!
Summer vacation can be a time to stimulate your kids’ imaginations and keep them excited about their passions while avoiding that summer learning loss. MoPOP provides experiences where professional teaching artists help campers create original music videos, explore fantasy worlds, discover the world of drag, or design their own museum exhibits. Programs begin in July for students in grades 2–12.

July 18–22, 2022
8:45am–4:00pm daily
Ages 10–13
Become a rock star with Seattle Children’s Theatre (SCT) and MoPOP. Learn acting skills, songwriting techniques, and more to bring your music to life in our new music video camp. With instruction from SCT and MoPOP teaching artists, we’ll explore acting for the camera, develop skills to express character on film, learn the art and history of music videos, visit MoPOP’s galleries, and write and film our own parody music videos on location at Seattle Center!
Tuition: $370 until 5/31/2022, $400 if registered after 5/31/2022.
MoPOP members receive a $25 discount on camps.
Club meetings occur on Zoom from 4:00–5:00pm PT each Tuesday and registration is $10 per month, not including books.
July 25–29, 2022
8:45am–4:00pm daily
Ages 7–10
If you can imagine it, you can create it at MoPOP’s fantasy art camp. Bring fantasy into reality using art at this weeklong camp. We will dive into learning different art techniques from sculpting your very own fantastic creature to photographic manipulation. You’ll collaborate artistically with others and bring your original fantasy creations to life.

August 1–5, 2022

Ages 10–13
Museums like MoPOP combine artifacts, videos, and interactives to create exciting exhibits and experiences. But how do they do it? We’ll go behind the scenes to learn the secrets of making what you see in museums f rom MoPOP’s professional exhibit masterminds. We’ll work together with MoPOP’s curatorial and education teams to create our very own museum exhibit.

August 8–12, 2022

Ages 12–18
Calling all current and future kings and queens! Explore self-expression in MoPOP’s week-long, drag-tastic summer camp! Led by Seattle performer Joshua Hancock, you’ll investigate drag history and work together with local artists to create your own personas. You’ll choose your name, explore hair and makeup techniques, and develop your character’s stage presence. At the end of the week, celebrate your new drag personas with a private showcase!

MoPOP is also partnering with Rain City Rock Camp and Cherry Street Films on two additional camps this summer.
ADVANCED MUSIC PROGRAM (AMP)

August 22–26, 2022
Ages 14–19
Rain City Rock Camp AMP at MoPOP is an advanced music program for female or gender nonconforming teens* ages 14–19 with prior music experience. Teens come for a week-long intensive study of playing in a band, songwriting, music business and empowerment workshops, off-site trips to studios and venues, and more! At the end of the week, participants get to record their original song with their band in a professional studio.
The workshops and classes in this program are geared towards a deeper musical understanding of songwriting and being successful as a long-term band. Participants need to have prior music experience on guitar, bass, drums, or vocals. Instruments will be provided.
*All people who identify as female (cis or trans), trans, or gender non-conforming are welcome to be campers at RCRC.

July 11–15, 2022 | August 15–19, 2022
Ages 11–17
Filmmaking Camps are fun and creative project-based programs designed to teach teamwork and collaboration. Activities range from production planning, location scouting, hands-on tech and gear tutorials, introduction to industry standards, screenwriting, project management and so much more. Young media creators work in small teams to produce short films to share with their communities, and beyond!
