Are you an accountant with a passion for Pop Culture?  MoPOP is looking for an experienced, detail oriented, self-starting Accounting Manager to join our team.  Not-for-profit accounting experience required, CPA or other professional degree preferred.



  • Oversee all accounting and related financial reporting systems, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements
  • Establish and maintain internal controls for receipt and recording of revenue/assets and disbursement and recording of expenses/liabilities
  • Coordinate financial and regulatory audits and preparation of the Form 990
  • Ensure accurate and timely filing of all local and state tax returns
  • Perform monthly bank reconciliations for all active bank accounts
  • Provide oversight and review function over all reconciliations, month end/annual close procedures, journal entries, payables, etc, in coordination with the Finance team
  • Analyze data and oversee preparation of interim and annual financial statements and reports, ensure timely distribution
  • Design and build financial analysis and reporting for all departments
  • Assist with forecasting and financial modeling
  • Prepare, review, and process journal entries when appropriate
  • Assist with the annual budget process
  • Assist with Board and Finance Committee reporting


  • Bachelor Degree in Accounting or related field, CPA or other professional designation and public accounting experience preferred
  • Four years related not-for-profit experience and accounting knowledge required
  • Three years supervisory or project management experience required
  • Thorough working knowledge of non-profit GAAP accounting required
  • Ability to work independently, demonstrate good personal judgment, and exercise a commitment to ethical conduct
  • Advanced knowledge of accounting and reporting software including but not limited to, Great Plains, BI360, Tessitura, and ReQlogic
  • Advanced proficiency using Excel and other MS Office products (Word, Outlook and PowerPoint) required
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills combined with strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills required
  • Comfortable with shifting priorities, frequent change and leading teams successfully through change
