MoPOP Collabs With Five Local Record Stores for "Golden Ticket" Giveaway to 'Contact High: A Visual History of Hip-Hop' Exhibition

MoPOP Partners With Local Record Stores for "Golden Ticket" Giveaway to 'Contact High: A Visual History of Hip-Hop'

To celebrate the October opening of our newest exhibition, Contact High: A Visual History of Hip-Hop, the Museum of Pop Culture collaborated with five record shops around the Seattle area for a special "golden ticket" giveaway.

Launched on MoPOP's Instagram, the Willy Wonka-inspired hunt started with MoPOP placing five golden tickets at local stores, including Royal Records, Daybreak Records, Sonic Boom Records, Spin Cycle Records, and Easy Street Records. At each stop, golden tickets were dropped inside a specific artist's labeled section of the store. The record store location of each ticket was revealed right away, but to locate the golden ticket inside each store, followers of the giveaway had to decipher a hip-hop related clue and start digging through the shop for a chance to win.

Once found, each golden ticket was good for two tickets to our October 15 early preview of Contact High, plus a special vinyl prize pack generously donated by Crane City Music. Check out a recap of the golden ticket giveaway's events below. Would you have been able to decode which artist section each store's hip-hop clue alludes to?

Congratulations to all five of our golden ticket winners, and thank you to the Seattle record store community for your participation!
