It's Coming From Inside the House! 2021 Series Finale - Watch 'Psycho Goreman' (2020) With MoPOP

The Museum of Pop Culture's monthly horror watchalong film series is wrapping up its second year with a bang!

This series started as a way to keep horror fans connected at a time when it has been difficult to come together and feel that special connection that comes from sharing in our love for spooks, splatter, and suspense. We asked the Spooky Crew Discord server that rose from this program about how best to close out this year and they picked a horror film that is, at its bloody heart, a film about friendship: Canadian breakout hit Psycho Goreman!

We’re having a costume contest/show-and-tell to kick off the evening with some sweet prizes like Psycho Goreman merch, MoPOP tickets, and a private tour of our Scared to Death: The Thrill of Horror Film exhibition!

Here’s a handful of program elements that you can expect to see this Friday, October 22:

  • Pre-film introduction with MoPOP’s Robert Rutherford
  • Costume contest with sweet prizes! (full details below)
  • Chat with Robert and other fans during the film
  • We’ll be announcing the two inductees onto MoPOP’s list of 100+ Horror Films to See Before You Die from the films selected by our 2021 guests and as voted on by fans on social media (make sure to get your votes in before Friday's watchalong!)
  • Post-film discussion and more surprises in store!

As with all of our virtual events, you'll need to register in advance to attend. This program uses a pay-what-you-can ticket model — every little bit helps! All proceeds contribute to MoPOP programming, along with the preservation of our collection and our educational initiatives, all of which support our mission of making creative expression a life-changing force.

After registration, instructions on how to join the program will be e-mailed to you. If you happen to own a copy of the film or are able to rent a physical copy from your local video store, make sure to get it queued up at 7 p.m. PT on Friday, October 22. Otherwise, here's where you can find Psycho Goreman (2020) online:

Costume Contest

Calling all Halloween costumers! To celebrate our last It’s Coming from Inside the House! watchalong of the year and the culmination of the spooky season, we’re hosting a costume contest as part of our watchalong of Psycho Goreman on Friday, October 22. Here’s how it’ll work:

  • Anyone who dresses up and wants to share their costume on-screen during our Zoom webinar is invited to do so, and anyone who shares will be eligible for prizes.
  • We will be judging costumes in three categories, and we will ask folks to self-identify into the category that they would like to be judged. The categories are:
    • Scariest Costume
    • Best Trash Costume (using household objects/materials)
    • Best Overall Costume

We have fun prizes for the winners of each category, including MoPOP tickets, a copy of the Psycho Goreman blu-ray, a copy of the Psycho Goreman soundtrack on vinyl from Waxwork Records, a collectible glass featuring Pandora from Psycho Goreman, a private tour of MoPOP’s Scared to Death gallery with It's Coming From Inside the House! host Robert Rutherford, and other goodies! All you have to do to participate is register for the Psycho Goreman watchalong and join on Friday at 7:00 p.m. PT wearing your costume and be ready to share it on camera!

Seattle Meetup/Crazyball Tournament

But wait, there's more! The Spooky Crew Discord server is also hosting a meetup/Crazyball tournament at Seattle's Jefferson Park on Saturday, October 23 at 2:00 p.m. PT (no RSVP required!). This is your chance to meet other horror fans in a safe, socially-distant setting and try your best to understand the labyrinthine rules of Psycho Goreman’s fictional dodgeball game. MoPOP will be there for some pre-Halloween merriment, too!
