So Bad It's Good: Watch 'Catwoman' (2004) With MoPOP + Special Guest Jamal Igle!
Movies you love to hate: everybody’s got ‘em. They’re the cinematic junk food that feeds our souls, tickles our funny bone, and rolls our eyes. That’s why they’re the focus of our current film series: So Bad It’s Good.
Hosted by MoPOP’s very own Kasi Gaarenstroom, this is the final film in our all-virtual So Bad It's Good series. So far, each screening has featured a special guest fighting for the legitimacy of their favorite movie flop, and that same formula holds true for our final So Bad It's Good showing where audience participation is highly encouraged—attendees can sound off in the chat and heckle (or praise) the current movie!
So grab some popcorn, fire up the ol’ internet, and get ready to cringe at 6 p.m. PST this Saturday, June 12, 2021 as we celebrate Catwoman(2004), starring Halle Berry. A brief synopsis, for the uninitiated:
Sometimes a love story is inspiring for it’s relatability and tenderness. Sometimes it induces awe for the opposite reason. Catwoman, played by Halle Berry, and her love interest Tom (Benjamin Brat), fall into the latter category. Their chemistry feels as uncomfortable and forced as we imagine Halle Berry does in her little leather outfit.
Joining us for Saturday's watchalong of Catwoman is Jamal Igle, an American comic book artist, editor, art director, marketing executive, and animation storyboard artist. The creator of the comic book series Molly Danger, Igle is also known for his penciling, inking, and coloring work on books such as Supergirl and Firestorm.
Here's a handful of elements participants can expect to see this Saturday night at our online Catwoman watchalong:
Pre-film introduction with MoPOP’s Kasi Gaarenstroom and special guest Jamal Igle
Chat with Kasi, Jamal, and other fans during the film
Post-film reaction to the film and discussion on why Catwoman is So Bad It's Good
As with all of MoPOP's online watchalongs, to attend you'll need to register in advance and then, on event day, you'll receive an e-mail with a link to join the virtual event. Registration for Catwoman is open now.
Before we begin this weekend, make sure to have a copy of the film queued up on your end and, when Kasi gives the cue, we'll all hit play together at the same time. Here's a handful of places where you can findCatwoman online:
