POP+ Pride: MoPOP Book Club To Explore N.K. Jemisin's 'How Long 'til Black Future Month?'

MoPOP Book Club returns in June as part of our month of POP+ Pride virtual programming as we celebrate author N.K. Jemisin, who is not only revered as one of science fiction’s most talented contemporary Afrofuturist writers, but is celebrated for featuring LGBTQ+ characters in many of her works. Her characters are as diverse in identity as they are in personality and backgrounds. She represents the LGBTQ+ spectrum in her novels and short stories by writing characters of different races, genders, sexualities, and species.

For our POP+ Pride MoPOP Book Club, we will be exploring two of Jemisin’s short stories from How Long 'til Black Future Month? Join host Misha Stone from the Seattle Public Library on June 22 and June 29 to discuss short stories Effluent Engine and The City Born Great with us and other N.K Jemisin fans.

Additionally, on June 28, in collaboration with Seattle Pride, we will be hosting a special one-time book chat on Casey McQuiston’s Red, White & Royal Blue. Join us as we discuss this cult-favorite YA Novel with host Krystal Marx and a member of MoPOP’s Youth Advisory Board. Learn more about that event at togetherforpride.org
