Minecraft: The Family That Crafts Together

Chris Collier's Compound in the MoPOP Minecraft realm

MINECON Earth is just a few days away (but who’s counting, right???), and we’re back today with another peek at the MoPOP Minecraft realm.

Staff member Chris doesn’t just craft alone: both his wife and daughter have joined the realm with amazing results.

Our realm has tended to spread out, with individuals and small groups going off to tame various biomes and worlds. But Chris and his family have stayed near where they very first spawned, creating an intricate, complex compound filled with animals, gardens, and rainbows. Lots of rainbows.

When I asked Chris about his favorite part of their creation, he had this to say.

“I like our chicken pit best. I built a coup on top with about 4 chickens enclosed.  As they lay eggs, they funnel through hoppers into a dispenser that is linked to a redstone system.  If you run down into the pit, you can feed the eggs you collect into the lower dispenser and as soon as you do—it’ll start launching eggs into the pit.  Between feeding the chickens seeds, killing them and cooking them—it’s a great way to farm XP quickly!”
