The Annual Fund Manager is responsible for the development and execution of the Museum of Pop Culture’s annual fund program as part of a comprehensive fundraising program that meets set financial goals. The Annual Fund Manager will work closely with the Advancement Team and Membership Manager to meet these goals and provide support for other fundraising initiatives. The right candidate will be able to seek and identify opportunity, have a thirst for creative thinking, and the ability to help catapult the individual giving program to robust success.
Essential Job Functions (other duties assigned)
- Manage the daily activities of the Advancement Coordinator including goal setting, reviews, performance coaching, and improvement plans, if necessary.
- Design, implement, manage, and evaluate annual fund strategy and approach for donors who contribute ≤$10,000.
- Execute a moves management engagement strategy in order to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward donors to secure gifts and multi-year pledges from individuals including timely acknowledgement, appropriate recognition, invitations to events, e-news communications, impact reporting and management of other mission experiences, where applicable. Create strategy memos for donors we seek to move up the donor pipeline.
- Oversee management of the current CRM including gift entry, list management and report creation, maintain accurate constituent reports, and ensure overall data integrity.
- Work with the Advancement Coordinator to manage data entry and gift processing for all contributions, utilize reporting to evaluate the success of the annual fund on a monthly and annual basis and assess the effectiveness of specific strategies.
- Work with the Advancement Coordinator to prepare and send accurate and timely membership and pledge reminders on a monthly basis. Create a renewal, retention, acquisition, and lapsed member strategy.
- Design and produce reports, lists, extractions, etc. and take an active role in interpretation of data to track constituent behavior to inform giving behavior and monitor engagement.
- Write appeals, acknowledgement letters, correspondence, and other projects as assigned.
- Develop print and electronic solicitation and support materials for all constituency groups and segments.
- In collaboration with the Advancement team, develop and implement effective mass cultivation and solicitation strategies to identify and invite donors to upgrade their support.
- Work closely with the Marketing department to implement appropriate social media and online giving strategies, new and/or upgrades to the website donor page staying informed of the latest trends and how or if they should be implemented. Create all online giving channels.
- Make recommendations for assignment of donors to appropriate relationship managers and assist with prospect research.
- Manage relationships with all Friend and Councilmembers, acting as their stewardship manager and point of contact.
- Coordinate financial processing and guest information relating to annual fund fundraising events.
- Serve as point person for IT and Finance departments in matters concerning database performance.
- In partnership with the Advancement Director, track and monitor department revenues and expenses and reconcile both with the Finance department on a monthly and annual basis.
- Assist with other department events and initiatives as requested.
- Support our internal culture which inspires and empowers our staff to live our mission to its highest standards.
- Contribute to a consistent customer service standard across all departments.
- Work to ensure customer service is ingrained at the core of the team and is reflected outward to our guests and other staff.
- Commitment to participating in anti-racism work, learning about the ways institutional racism impacts the workplace, and supporting teammates in operationalizing DEIA strategies in the department.
- Minimum three to five years fundraising experience preferred, including annual campaigns.
- Knowledge of community centric fundraising practices and a dedication to equitable fundraising practices.
- Experience with CRM systems (Tessitura and Greater Giving) and other computer-based information systems preferred.
- Ability to proactively anticipate and efficiently solve problems. Demonstrated ability to take initiative and a relentless drive toward outcomes and high aim.
- Experience fundraising in museums or other membership-based institutions.
- Have a bias for action and lead with an innovative mindset.
- Ability to work and prioritize independently, while also working in collaboration with a team.
- Able to remain composed under stress, handles responses to criticism tactfully and takes responsibility for delivering on organization commitments.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong customer service orientation, with extensive experience in effectively addressing and resolving issues with constituents.
- Excellent project management skills, including strong attention to detail while multi-tasking and ability to perform well given workload fluctuations inherent in the profession.
- Travel, including evening and weekend work required.
