MoPOP is excited to reveal our new Family Programs series. Designed for families with children ages 6 and up, these programs encourage families to work together and explore our current museum content and traveling exhibitions, even with social-distancing restrictions.

March to Your Own Drum: Protest Music and Social Action

What makes protest songs so powerful, and why is music such an important tool for social changes?

How can we use our words and voices to speak out about issues that are important to us and inspire others to join us? Join Nashville singer-songwriter Tai Shan Garrison for a special exploration into the music of protest. We’ll investigate the roots of protest music, listen to past and present protest songs from numerous genres, discuss where we look for inspiration, and put our own words into action as we create original protest songs.

This program will be held online.

Minecraft Family Program

Join us for a FREE virtual family Minecraft program! Led by a MoPOP museum educator and inspired by our Fantasy: Worlds of Myth and Magic exhibit, we’ll identify common fantasy characters, explore buildings a community might need, and then work together to create our own fantasy-inspired buildings.

In order to allow us to build together, we will use MoPOP’s Minecraft: Education Edition accounts for this program. We will provide additional instructions to all registered families.
