Alexandra Lippman is an anthropologist, DJ, and Visiting Assistant Professor at Pitzer College. Her research focuses on intellectual property, popular music, and the politics of sound in Latin America and has been published by MIT Press, Anthropology Today, Norient, and Sound Studies, among others. She is finishing her first book, Opening Culture: Intellectual Property, Piracy and Pacification in Brazil. She co-founded the Discos Rolas label and has a monthly radio show on Dublab, “Sound Study.”
