I.C.Y.M.I.: Dave Grohl Concedes Epic Rock Battle To Nandi Bushell
Greetings, fellow pop culture aficionados, and welcome to week 42 of ourI.C.Y.M.I.(In Case You Missed It) blog series, where we recap a handful of trending tidbits from the past week(s) in popular culture, in case you missed them.
Dave Grohl Concedes Epic Rock Battle To Nandi Bushell
In a bit of breaking news from the rock world, former Nirvana drummer and current Foo Fighters front man Dave Grohl has conceded his ongoing social media music battle with 10-year-old drummer Nandi Bushell, whose nearly flawless drum covers of prominent artists' songs caught the attention of Grohl and music lovers alike this past year. In a recent appearance on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, Grohl conceded the showdown that began back in August after Grohl caught wind of Bushell's cover of the 1997 Foo Fighters hit "Everlong."
"Sometimes you just have to concede defeat," Grohl says. "There's nothing I could do. It was like being called out by the school bully. Like, 'I'll see you on the playground after school!' Every time she would send me one of these videos, she would put one of these videos on her page, I just thought like, 'oh my god, I'm going to get my ass kicked again.' It just happened over and over and over again."
So while the battle may be over between these two, a collaboration still looks to be in the works. In their last meeting with one another, Grohl suggested the two team up to create a song of their own.
"It has been an honor battling you Mr. Grohl," Bushell says. "And I can't wait to write our song together."
