Pop Con 2020 Presents: 'Too Old For This Sh__'

Pop Con 2020: Forever Young

The Museum of Pop Culture's annual Pop Conference, first held in 2002, mixes together ambitious music discourse of every kind to bring academics, critics, musicians, and dedicated fans into a collective conversation. Pop Con 2020 is being reimagined as an online conference to be held in September 2020 (exact dates and times to be announced). Leading up to the virtual event this fall MoPOP will host a series of teaser events. The first, Too Old For This Sh__ takes place at 2 p.m. PT on Thursday, May 28.

Pop Con 2020 Presents: Too Old For This Sh__, a critical karaoke webinar fearturing a gathering of Pop Con veterans and 2020 programming committe members, including Raquel Gutierrez, Gerrick Kennedy, Sarah Kessler, Emily Lordi, Chris Molanphy, Ned Raggett, Jodie Rosen, Mairead Sullivan, Karen Tongson, and Carl Wilson, reflecting on what, how, and when we confront the limit case—if ever—of our presence in youth culture and pop scenes. Pop is the province of youth, so it's inevitable that we someday come across a song, and a musical moment, that triggers our fears that we're "way too old to be into that sh__."

In addition to the song-length presentations/performances, there will be a Q&A with the audience, and a conversation between presenters.
